June 27: An inexpensive away mission will lead the USS Angeles to meet at noon at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, 12400 Columbia Way, Downey 90242. This will mark the first time our club has visited the center, which is located where the space shuttles and Apollo capsules were designed and built. Admission is $5. The 20,000-plus square-foot facility features the Challenger Learning Center Space Mission Simulator and exhibits covering everything from current NASA programs to the aerospace history of Downey and Southern California. The center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, see columbiaspacescience.org.
