Angeles enjoys day, night at pool party

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — The USS Angeles held a pool party, but Lisa Sobien was the only one who ventured into the water.
And she did so at night.
During the day, the rest of us were too busy chatting and enjoying chef extraordinaire Dennis Cherry’s hamburgers and hot dogs, which he grilled with precision at the outdoor party, to dive into the sea, so to speak. The party took place in early June at Dennis and Kristine Cherry’s home in Chatsworth, and while reasonably hot, the day was far cooler than last year’s pool party. We were very comfortable in the sun. Those around the table on a covered patio were Bill Johns, Christopher Mulrooney, Brian Nomi, Dennis, Kristine and I, and we enjoyed a feast that included some great sides including delicious chocolate brought by Brian.
Afterward, we gathered inside Kristine and Dennis’ apartment to watch videos, and Lisa, who arrived later at the party, joined us there.
After others left, Lisa decided to take a dip in the pool and the hot tub. By this time, it was night, and it was comfortable outside.
So this year’s party, which was a hit during the day and evening, proved a universal truth. For the USS Angeles, the fun never stops.
