Remembering our friend Jennifer Cole
By Fleet Capt. Dave Mason, Commanding Officer
It was always a good day when Jennifer Cole was directing “Hidden Frontier.”
She took a thoughtful approach to the Pasadena-area set of the fan-produced “Star Trek” video series. And the actors and crew liked the productive but relaxed atmosphere she maintained. Jennifer knew how to make us smile when we needed it the most.
Jennifer took the same approach to being the USS Angeles second officer, first officer and commanding officer. She made away missions and parties more fun, and she found ways to make our “Star Trek” club better.
She made us laugh, and she made us think.
We’ll miss her. Jennifer died June 26 after a 14-year battle with cancer.
She spent her final days in hospice care at Providence St. John’s Health Center, a Santa Monica hospital. That’s where several USS Angeles members saw her and held her hand.
Jennifer put her heart and soul into the Angeles, where she served as membership services director. She continued her work in that area even when she was busy as commanding officer. She kept track of our money and our membership details, a big task for a club our size.
Besides her dedication to the USS Angeles, Jennifer was a longtime member of STARFLEET, an international fan organization where she rose to the rank of full admiral. She was also a vice regional coordinator for Region 4, the STARFLEET region for California and nearby states.
She brought her enthusiasm to Angeles activities and more. She loved sci-fi, and she loved her fellow fans.
And we will remember her with love.
